O’Sullivan and Zhao Crash Out as Trump Cruises at Shenzhen Open

The opening day of the 2026 Shenzhen Open produced two major shocks as Ronnie O’Sullivan and world No. 1 Zhao Xintong both crashed out.

O’Sullivan suffered a 5–2 defeat to Jiang Jun, with the Chinese youngster sealing one of the biggest wins of his career with a century in the final frame.

Zhao was also eliminated after Scott Donaldson fought back to claim a dramatic 5–4 deciding-frame victory against the home favourite.

There were no such problems for Judd Trump, who swept Huang Jiahao aside 5–0 in a dominant performance.

Trump has since advanced to the last 16 after his scheduled next opponent, Anthony McGill, withdrew on medical grounds.

With several headline names already gone, the Shenzhen Open draw has opened up dramatically after just one day of action.
