BAM Juniors Smash Expectations with Clean Sweep of U-16 Crowns!
The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has showcased its promising future as its young shuttlers swept all four Under-16 titles at the Affin 100Plus Junior Elite Tour Finals yesterday at Stadium Juara in Bukit Kiara.
In the boys’ singles final, young talent Chong Lee Qian successfully rallied from a game down to defeat national teammate Ng Hao Tong. He secured his first national title of the year with a hard-fought 18-21, 21-8, 21-11 victory in a 60-minute thriller.
The girls’ singles title was claimed by Mirza Batrisyia Aghnia Nazri, who also endured a tense three-game battle. She ultimately overpowered Chua Jing Xuan 21-12, 14-21, 21-16 to take home the championship crown.
In the doubles categories, Teoh Chong Yee and Tze Han Wong comfortably secured the boys’ title by defeating Selangor’s Max Foo and Yong Kiat Song 21-7, 21-14 in just 35 minutes. Meanwhile, Leong Hwee Ling and Teo Min Yi emerged victorious as the girls’ doubles champions to complete the impressive BAM sweep.
