French Para: Kawai Remains Unbeaten!

Shino Kawai continued her exceptional run on the international circuit by capturing the SL3 women’s singles title at the French Para Badminton International 2026 in Mulhouse. The 33-year-old defeated Indonesia’s Qonitah Ikhtiar Syakuroh 21-14, 21-12 to secure her fourth title of the season.

Since her debut, Kawai has dominated the circuit, rising to world No.1 and emerging as champion in five of her last six tournaments, including the World Championships. Expressing her joy at the recent victory, she emphasized her commitment to working hard and preparing thoroughly for the LA28 Paralympic Games.

Kawai’s victory was among four titles claimed by Japan. Daiki Kajiwara and Sarina Satomi extended their dominance in the WH2 men’s singles and WH1 women’s singles respectively, with Kajiwara also securing the WH1-WH2 men’s doubles crown alongside Keita Nishimura.

Meanwhile, India emerged as the most successful nation of the tournament, taking home a total of five titles. Thulasimathi Murugesan claimed two crowns, while Tokyo 2020 Paralympic gold medallist Krishna Nagar secured a confidence-boosting victory over home favourite Charles Noakes in the SH6 men’s singles final.
