McLaren has officially launched a striking one-off Google Gemini Formula 1 livery for their home event at the upcoming British Grand Prix. The Woking-based outfit becomes the second team, following Williams, to introduce a special design for the highly anticipated Silverstone race weekend.

Created as part of their ongoing partnership with Google, this unique livery draws direct inspiration from the legendary McLaren M2B. The M2B was the team’s very first Formula 1 car, making its debut at the 1966 Monaco Grand Prix. To celebrate the team’s 1000th Grand Prix milestone earlier this season, 1998-99 World Champion Mika Hakkinen famously drove the historic M2B around the iconic Monte Carlo street circuit.

McLaren Racing Chief Marketing Officer Louise McEwen explained that the Silverstone design is a celebration of where the team began and everything they have built since. She noted that the M2B represents a journey defined by relentless innovation and a belief in possibility. McEwen emphasized that their partnership with Google Gemini shares these exact same principles, exploring how technology can unlock new ways to push performance forward both on and off the track.

Google Vice President of Consumer and AI Marketing Marvin Chow also expressed excitement about the collaboration. Chow highlighted that McLaren is truly demonstrating how to harness the power of AI, from sparking creative ideas with the Gemini app to turning complex datasets into real-time trackside intelligence using Gemini Enterprise.

Fans attending the British Grand Prix weekend will also have the opportunity to explore the livery up close at a joint activation hosted by McLaren and Gemini at the Truman Brewery in East London.
