Formula 1 is heading back to Sepang International Circuit, with Malaysia preparing to host the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia 2026 from 2–4 October.

The event marks the return of Formula 1 racing to Sepang for the first time since the 2017 Malaysian Grand Prix, ending a gap of almost nine years for one of Southeast Asia’s most iconic circuits.

This year’s race carries an unusual name because Malaysia is hosting the Bahrain Grand Prix under an agreement involving Formula 1, the FIA and the governments of Bahrain and Malaysia. The arrangement allowed the championship to preserve a race that otherwise would not have taken place in 2026.

Sepang’s 5.543km layout features 15 corners and has long been known for high-speed racing, demanding conditions and unpredictable Malaysian weather. The race will cover 56 laps and 310.418km.

With race weekend now approaching fast, Malaysian motorsport fans are counting down to the return of Formula 1 machinery to Sepang.
