The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has significantly broadened the use of artificial intelligence in officiating by deploying the Reveal Lens Instant Review System at the AFFIN 100PLUS Junior Elite Tour Finals 2026. This initiative marks one of the first large-scale implementations of such advanced technology at a junior-level competition.

Developed by Malaysian sports technology firm Revealtek Sdn Bhd and approved by the Badminton World Federation, the AI-powered system allowed players to challenge line calls and receive accurate decisions within seconds. The technology processes high-speed footage captured at 480 frames per second almost immediately, displaying live outcomes inside the venue.

Beyond officiating, the deployment introduced junior players to performance tools typically reserved for elite international tournaments. Coaches gained access to valuable match footage and data, while the system also supported live streaming and digital scoring across multiple courts to aid in comprehensive player development.

BAM and Revealtek officials emphasized that the technology supports transparent, consistent decision-making and perfectly aligns with long-term regional sports development plans. Looking ahead, Revealtek is preparing to pilot a new Electronic Line Calls system in September 2026 and is developing advanced post-match analytics tools using the existing camera infrastructure.
