Malaysian singles shuttler Eogene Ewe has continued his spectacular run at the Macau Open by storming into the semi-finals. The world No. 80 pulled off an impressive upset against Singapore’s world No. 31 Jason Teh, securing a convincing 21-9, 21-19 victory in just 39 minutes at the Macao East Asian Games Dome.
This remarkable achievement marks Eogene’s first-ever semi-final appearance at a World Tour Super 300 event. The unheralded star, who has consistently taken down higher-ranked opponents throughout the tournament, is now set to face China’s Hu Zhe An in the crucial final four clash.
Eogene will not be fighting alone, as Malaysia boasts a strong presence in the later stages of the tournament. He is joined in the semi-finals by four other national representatives, including two men’s doubles pairs, one women’s doubles pair, and a mixed doubles duo, keeping the country’s championship hopes flying high.
