Manchester United are confident that young goalkeeper Dermot Mee will commit his future to the club by signing a contract extension, despite his current deal officially expiring at the end of today.

The 23-year-old Northern Ireland Under-21 international is technically set to become a free agent tomorrow. However, the Red Devils have presented a fresh deal to keep him at Old Trafford, and club insiders remain highly optimistic that Mee will put pen to paper to continue his journey in Manchester.

Since joining the United academy from Walsall at the age of 16, Mee has built a solid reputation behind the scenes. Although his senior competitive experience is limited to a brief four-game loan spell at National League side Altrincham early in the 2022/23 season, he has been a stalwart for the youth setup, registering 27 appearances for the United Under-21s. Furthermore, the club deeply values his presence around Carrington, where he has become an integral part of the first-team goalkeeping group during daily training sessions.

When announcing the contract offer earlier this month, United emphasized that the academy graduate has played an important role in first-team preparations while also competing in crucial Under-21 fixtures.
